Stream your shows on komedy.tv

Your free shows stream live on komedy.tv and get saved to watch on demand — putting your theater in front of comedy fans from every other theater on the network. You send us one stream; we can also relay it to your own YouTube and Twitch at the same time.

The whole job on your end: point any streaming encoder at the unique link and key we give you, and press “Go Live.” Here's exactly how — and the quality bar to hit.

The quality bar (please read first)

Streaming spots are for theaters that can film the stage well. Three things matter, in order:

1

Audio from the board

Take sound from your mixing board / house PA, not the camera's built-in mic. This is the single biggest quality difference. A ~$30 USB audio interface bridges the board to your encoder.

2

Camera close to the stage

A framed shot from near the stage — not a wide, static shot from the back of the room. Performers should fill the frame. One good angle beats four bad ones.

3

Stable 720p upload

Stream at 720p, 30fps. You need a reliable wired internet connection with at least ~6 Mbps upload to spare. Wi-Fi works but wired is safer for a live show.

What komedy.tv gives you

Pick your setup

Most theaters already have what they need for Option A. Use the one that fits your gear.

Option A · Easiest

Laptop + OBS Studio Free

The universal setup. A laptop runs the free OBS Studio app.

  1. Video in: a USB webcam, or a real camera via an HDMI-to-USB capture stick (e.g. Elgato Cam Link, ~$120). In OBS: Sources → + → Video Capture Device.
  2. Audio in: plug your sound board into a USB audio interface → in OBS Settings → Audio, select it. Turn the camera mic off.
  3. Point it at us: Settings → Stream → Service: Custom, then paste the Server (RTMP URL) and Stream Key we gave you.
  4. Quality: Settings → Output → see recommended settings below. Then press Start Streaming.
Option B · Best quality

Hardware switcher — Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro ~$325

For 2–4 cameras and clean switching, with no computer needed — the switcher streams by itself, so there's no laptop to crash mid-show.

  1. Connect up to 4 cameras by HDMI, and your sound board audio in.
  2. Connect the ATEM to your router by Ethernet.
  3. In ATEM Software Control, load the streaming settings file we provide (or enter the RTMP URL + key), then press On Air.
  4. PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras pair well here for a small crew.
Option C · Fallback only

Phone Free app

If you have nothing else, a phone can get you on air using a custom-RTMP app like Larix Broadcaster (set it to landscape, enter our RTMP URL + key).

Honest note: a single phone angle with the phone's mic usually won't meet the quality bar above. Great for cutting vertical clips to promote a show — not ideal as the main stage feed. Aim for Option A or B.
